A native to North America, Monarda have been used as an herb for different purposes depending on the variety. Fistulosa and Didyma have been used by Natives to brew teas from the leaves. It has been known to act as an antiseptic for mouth infections, skin infections and minor wounds. It is closely related to the oregano family and can be used to spice foods and when planted next to tomatoes can improve the taste of the crop.
Citrus Bergamia is the variety used to make Earl Grey teas.
Grows 1-3 feet in height.
When planted in full sun you will get more height and blooms. If grown in shade, you will get wider spread and less blooms.
It likes moist well drained soil.
